This month we are going to look at the power of the Internet and the creative elements that can be used to enhance your company and make it a tangible proposition for a potential customer.

From April 2008 we developed a client from scratch, to a complete new brand and identity online. The brand was then advertised in press and magazines and also on radio.
Our Director Mike Craddock developed the clients brand aspirations and created a website with our team and here is the result http://www.learn2sail.com/ . We then took that creative and built an exhibition stand which was used at the Southampton boat show and was a great success, and will be used again at the Excel boat show in 2009.
Generating customers and enquiries did not stop at the website or magazine and exhibition advertising, the client was then advised to do a competition on Radio which had an excellent prize of a sailing course in the Algarve. The opportunity was to great to miss and Mike organised a production team and the breakfast show presenter from http://www.invictafm.co.uk/, James Hemming to go to the Algarve and film a travelog. This generated a massive response, so much so that the client is staying on radio with spot advertising.
The results are enclosed in the blog so have a look, it works extremely well as a sales tool and on line brochure and is very well produced.

Since our last blog there have been enormous efforts from all the media companies in the UK to tell clients and potential clients that there has never been a better time to advertise your product or service. Radio broadcasters have said that when there is a downturn in the economy in other countries all advertisers spend more of their budget on Radio commercials. More for You..


The latest news has been quite wearing, and not really great for any of us. However there is always a silver lining which is the cost of advertising your business has come down substantially.

As with all things it is dependent on committing your budget to short term advertising so the deals are for November, December 2008 and January, February 2009.
Specifically for Television which are giving some clients 15% more for their spend year on year.
Commercial spot rates for TV are falling so now is a good time to test the market.

How much do you need to pay?


Here at Simply Advertising we are always looking for opportunities to save clients money on their advertising and marketing. The thing is there are people who do not want you to know the true cost, well we do and we are going to tell you on this blog whats available and where and for how much.
What we do is look across all media and pick the best ones that week and tell you about them. To start with we've been looking at the deals on Billboards and all things Outdoor,

- Transport -

Summary: Rail is doing reasonable well short-term. There is decent interest on the Underground, but not much is sold out. Interest on buses has tailed off somewhat across the next 3 periods.

The first deal is Tube Car Panels:

London Underground Quantity:4,000 Audience:91,000 Dates to run:20/10-2/11 Cost per panel:£12.35 Total Cost:£49,400 Ratecard:£76,800
That is a massive £27,400 discount!

Next up is Bus advertising:

Supersides Bus Excellent value conurbation campaign
Standard National Quantity:2,100Audience:13,450,000 Dates to run:20/10-2/11 Cost per side:£108.00 Total Cost:£226,800 Ratecard:£409,500
Again that is £182,700 discount, great for a national client.

These are just a sample and we're able to do this on a town or city only basis, or on a county or region split, we can even pick a specific road or bus route.

Regional press is always a winner especially if you have a requirement weekly, we are currently getting between 35% and 40% discount with some publications, this is based on long term deals however there are always late deals to be had if you have the advert available.

Radio is fantastic with groups willing to do short and long term discounts making the run up to Christmas a great time for us to negotiate on clients behalf. We are again saving our clients up to 35% depending on the campaign longevity.

Television advertising is in value terms the same as it was three years ago, audiences are still watching the big programmes, but there has been a slow down in revenue for some broadcasters which all means there are late campaigns to be had at very cheap rates by area or on national satalite stations.

We are totally committed to saving any client money and driving down the cost of media and creating more targeted ways of reaching that all important customer.
